ASTM A 283 C hot rolled steel sheet is one of the most commonly used hot rolled general structural steel. Since it has a weak resistance to corrosion, ASTM A 283 C hot rolled steel sheet must be painted or sealed to keep it from rusting.

ASTM A 283 C hot rolled steel sheet is soft in hardness due to its low carbon content. It is not recommended for use on main components with high strength, wear resistance or hardness.
