HP265 steel details
HP265 is a low-carbon steel that meets the Chinese GB 6653 standard. It is mainly used to manufacture welded gas cylinders and has good comprehensive performance. Its main features include high yield strength (minimum 265 MPa) and tensile strength (410-520 MPa), as well as excellent toughness, weldability and cold forming performance. HP265 steel is not easy to crack during welding due to its low-carbon design, and can meet the safety requirements of medium and low pressure gas storage. It is widely used in the field of gas cylinder manufacturing.
The chemical composition design of HP265 focuses on purity and processing performance, mainly including carbon (C≤0.18%), silicon (Si≤0.10%), manganese (Mn≤0.80%), phosphorus (P≤0.025%), sulfur (S≤0.015%), and the rest is iron and trace impurities. The low carbon content ensures the ductility of the steel, while the low sulfur and phosphorus content improves its toughness and durability, making it stable in a variety of environments.
In terms of size, HP265 is usually supplied in the form of hot-rolled steel sheets or strips, with a thickness range of 1.2 mm to 12 mm, a width generally between 1000 mm and 2000 mm, and a length that can be customized according to the design requirements of the gas cylinder. This flexibility in specifications makes it suitable for the production of gas cylinders of different sizes. The delivery state is mainly hot-rolled (HR), and the hot rolling process gives the steel a certain degree of corrosion resistance and can be stored in an open-air environment, but the surface may be slightly rough. If higher precision is required, it can be further processed by cold rolling.
The application scope of HP265 is mainly concentrated in the field of gas cylinder manufacturing, and is suitable for storing medium and low pressure gases such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), oxygen, and nitrogen. It is widely used in the fields of household gas cylinders, industrial gas containers, and portable fuel tanks. In addition, its high cost-effectiveness and reliability also make it have certain applications in the manufacture of small pressure vessels and storage tanks. With its excellent mechanical properties and economy, HP265 has become an indispensable material in the gas cylinder industry, especially for scenarios that need to balance safety and cost.
